Hottest 100 voting opens

Voting is now open for triple j’s Hottest 100 where listeners are urged to vote for their 10 favourite songs of 2014.

Continuing its tradition, triple j will countdown the 100 songs that received the most votes on Australia Day 2015.

The competition is the world largest musical democracy and past winners have included last year’s ukulele lead ‘Riptide’ by Vance Joy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ infectious anthem ‘Thriftshop’ (2012), Gotye’s world chart topping ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ (2011), Angus & Julia Stone’s ‘Big Jet Plane’ (2010) and Mumford & Sons ‘Little Lion Man’ (2009).

Voting puts you in the running to win triple j’s Golden Ticket, a double pass to every triple j supported gig of 2015 including the major festivals like Laneway, Splendour in the Grass and Falls.

As recounting the year in music can be difficult, inspiration can be found on the triple j website by seeing the votes made by artists and presenters.

Hottest 100 voting is open until midnight Sun 18 Jan and is available here.
