Howard Stern Returns

American shock jock, Howard Stern, whose show was dropped in six cities during a crackdown on indecency, claims he is back in most of those markets and has added four others.

Stern’s controversial program was cut from New York, Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and California, but he will resume broadcasting to all these states in about two weeks except for one.

During a ‘live’ media conference, he has said Clear Channel Communications is probably very frightened by the news.

“They don’t want me back on in these markets because I’ll quickly rise to number one in every one of them.”

Meanwhile, two companies affiliated with Stern’s show are seeking more than $US10 million from Clear Channel, alleging it had violated terms of the agreements to air the show.

They accuse the broadcasting giant of failing to notify them, as required, that the program was being dropped and that they are owed license fees.

Clear Channel implemented a new policy of zero tolerance for indecency when it dropped Stern, as regulators pressured station operators, with heavy fines for indecent content.
