I’ve received comments that a balanced approach to news won’t work in today’s divided environment. I understand that position, and have taken that into deep consideration, but I’m convinced that, especially after our testing, that a large group exists to embrace even handed reporting. While many want an echo chamber of their beliefs, there is a sizable group that is open to the big picture. The key is aggressively covering all sides. The good, bad and ugly in a factual information and creatively compelling and totally new environment.
The need is great especially as social media distorts reality in many ways showing one side of the story, often convincingly, and often ridiculously wrong.
Newsfix plans to deliver non-biased political reporting through a fundamental reimagining of news production, focusing on multi-dimensional storytelling and a strict “all sides considered” editorial approach.
The points below summarise the core strategies Newsfix plans to use to deliver on its promise of unbiased reporting:
“All Sides Considered” reporting aggressively present facts and context from both sides of an issue – Even if it upsets a certain side. It’s all about facts. Information for a truth starved planet.
De-emphasising Anchors – Shift focus from traditional star anchors to the stories themselves, using narrators to guide fact-based narratives eliminating anchor bias.
Visual & Verification-First Reporting – Prioritise cinematic visuals, forensic evidence, and source verification to build narratives, quickly debunking misinformation.
Broadening Story Selection – Reduce the dominance of political coverage in the news cycle, dedicating more time to a wider array of topics relevant to life.
The Vision Behind the NewsFix Mission:
Newsfix’s approach to unbiased reporting is part of a larger vision to completely disrupt the traditional news model, which tends to be outdated, biased, and disconnected from a younger, digitally-native audience
· A “New Paradigm for Storytelling”: The platform aims to be an “interactive movie of the world at the moment,” using high-production visuals, immersive audio, and AI-powered personalisation to make news engaging without resorting to sensationalism.
· Innovation from Outside the Newsroom: We believe that transformative change cannot come from within traditional newsrooms, which they see as steeped in conventional practices. They aim to bring in disruptive, outside ideas.
· Building a Community of “Fans”: The goal is to create a sense of community among viewers who feel that existing news sources do not serve them, building loyalty through a shared value of truth-seeking.
In summary, Newsfix proposes a novel model that replaces opinion-driven coverage with verified, multi-perspective information presented in a creative driven movie of the world at the moment.
