Jamming with Jonesy and Amanda

Gold FM’s Jonesy and Amanda pumped up the jam on the rooftop of the new Jackson on George pub in Sydney last night in an end of year Christmas party celebrating the publication of their book of memories.

After a short speech about the 20 years of highlights captured in the book, the hugely energetic band Furnace and the Fundamentals played non-stop gold hits for the invited crowd of listeners, celebrities, radioinfo reporters and… blow up dolls (main picture).

Pump Up The Jam: 20 Years of Jonesy & Amanda is available from Booktopia. It’s filled with pictures, stories and even videos from some of Jonesy & Amanda’s biggest moments together from the past 20 years of their show.

The show finished the ratings year with 8.9% of the Sydney breakfast audience, a weekly reach (cume) of 422,000 people, in survey 7. The pair consider each of those listeners to be friends of the show, whether they have been with them for the past 20 years or only just found the show recently. That attitude was evident at the event where they chatted to every listener as they made their way around the rooftop venue.

The party was also a farewell to the early riser timeslot the pair have inhabited for the past two decades. Jonesy and Amanda will next year host drive on ARN’s Gold network when Christian O’Connell is networked into Sydney from Gold Melbourne.

Despite the late finish last night, Jonesy, Amanda and their team were back on air this morning, planning the logistics of their show for 2026. In a feature after this morning’s 8 o’clock news called The Ideas Board, that they have been running since the change was announced, they are canvassing new segments for their upcoming drive show.

“Wednesday is ideas day,” said Jonesy. “Amanda gets out the whiteboard and we put your ideas on it… not in permanent marker Amanda!”

Amanda admitted they have not found many successful ideas so far. They are not using the listener suggestions for a laughter segment, car-pool karaoke, silence is golden or only good news, but they do like the idea from one listener for a segment called Dob in a Workmate.

All will be revealed next year when the duo return in the new timeslot. Meanwhile the listener party celebrated their 20 years in breakfast and brought the program year to a good finish for Jonesy and Amanda.
