UPDATES: Radio Survey 1 2026 results, Survey 8 2025 results.
Highlights:
- Sydney – 2GB No 1, smooth No 1 FM. Ben Fordham clear top in breakfast with his best TSL in two and a half years. Further drops for Kyle and Jackie O but still No 1 FM. Jonesy and Amanda and Bogart Torelli the big improvers on breakfast. Drops for both SCA stations, with both Triple M and 2Day below 4% breakfast shares
- Melbourne – 3AW No 1 and for Ross and Russ. Gains for Christian O’Connell and Gold. Putting distance between he and The Fox and Nova 100 in breakfast. Biggest improvers were Bob Murphy and Sharnelle Vella at ABC Melbourne who lifted above Triple M and smooth this survey. Again losses for the two SCA stations
-
Brisbane – Triple M still No 1 overall but how about 4BH – up from 5th to 3rd in the city. BBQ Bob and Robin, Kip and Corey Oates at KIIS 97.3 in their second to last survey both up 1.2% in breakfast. Nova’s Ash, Luttsy and Nikki Osborne No 1 in breakfast
-
Adelaide – Triple M the big winner. No 1 overall and up 1.6 to 16.2% audience in breakfast for Roo, Ditts and Loz. Biggest losses for Cruise breakfast after the departure of John Dean. Losses too for Mix 102.3 ahead of new branding and breakfast team
-
Perth – Business as usual with Nova 93.7 No 1 overall and for Nath, Nat and Shaun on breakfast. Biggest improvers Xav and Katie at Triple M with ABC Perth losing ground made up earlier this year
-
Smooth still the leader for cumulative listening. Kyle and Jackie O still have the biggest cume on breakfast
-
Cumulative gains for Gold 104.3 Melbourne and Nova 969 Sydney. CADA reached 150K plus cume audience
- While there were no major shifts in the ranking order in most cities, there were a few notable trends:
- ABC local stations lost ground everywhere, with most major shifts falling, except in Melbourne, where breakfast with Sharnelle Vella and Bob Murphy had a strong increase. Sharnelle will take some maternity leave next year after announcing her pregnancy recently.
- In Brisbane, 4BH continues its rise, with improvements to its music and a classic ‘payday’ promotion where callers answer the phone with “4BH is my station.” Ace Radio Sydney station 2UE also increased audience.
The survey was conducted by GfK for Commercial Radio Australia between Sunday August 24 – Saturday September 27 and Sunday October 5 to Saturday November 8. These are the last results for this calendar year, survey 8 results will be released in January 2026.
Commercial radio reaches 12.4 million weekly listeners, up 139,000 year-on-year (YOY). In-car listening continues to be an important audience habit for millions of Australians with listeners, growing by 188,000 YOY to 10.2 million. Digital adoption continues to grow, with 3.5 million Australians streaming commercial radio weekly, up 80,000 YOY.
