Jase & PJ turn Kananook Primary into a School of Rock

This is what more radio giveaways should look like.

KIIS101.1’s Jase & PJ heard that the young students at Kananook Primary School, in the Melbourne suburb of Seaford, absolutely love music but have to get by with very few instruments and facilities – with their passionate and dedicated music teacher Jo Rich often bringing her own instruments from home and using her own money to supply equipment for the class.

Hearing the school was in need, Jase & PJ with the help of the team at School of Rock – The Musical organised to surprise the class with tickets to the show and $10,000 worth of new music equipment.

The children were ecstatic when the new instruments were revealed and Mrs Rich, though initially speechless, explained to Jase & PJ why music was so important to the children and the enriched opportunity they now have to further their education.

School Principal Michael Block said, “Kananook has been moving in a very positive direction. Our academic results have been outstanding against National Standards. Winning this music equipment will provide extra opportunities for our students. It will enable us to enrich the programs we offer. It is a significant win for us and helps to make Kananook a choice destination for prospective students and families. Thank you to KIIS & School of Rock!”

Music teacher Jo Rich said: “Words alone cannot describe the amazing feeling when the curtain went back to reveal all of the equipment that we had won. This will open up a whole new world musically for our students at Kananook Primary School.”

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock opens at Her Majesty’s Theatre from 31 October. Book tickets at schoolofrockmusical.com.au
