Jones’ Swipe after yet Another #1 Survey

Alan Jones has praised his listeners’ loyalty, after another strong performance by 2GB in Survey #3, with the station finishing second overall to Nova 969.

2GB is number one AM talk station, going up half a point to 10.4%, ‘well ahead of 2BL on 8.7% and 2UE languishing on 6.6%.

Jones continues to dominate breakfast with 13.3%, two points ahead of Angela Catterns on 702ABC and 2UE’s Mike Carlton on 7.8%.

Referring to the ongoing Flint/Laws controversy, Jones says: “I have been attacked from every side during this survey and I am gratified that my listeners have recognised this personal vendetta for what it is.

“The ratings are a recognition of all the hard work and expertise of a team of people who have supported me during this difficult time.”

Ray Hadley has matched Jones’ #1, scoring 11.5% in mornings, ‘well ahead’ of John Laws on 2UE, who ‘slumped to 7.3%. In fact, Bob Rogers, with 7.4%, beat Laws and, overall, 2CH was only 3000 listeners less than 2UE’.

2GB’s Continuous Call rugby league team remained a clear #1 on weekends, and nights are still well in front, two points clear of 2Day FM on 12.7%.

2GB General Manager, Louise Barrett, says 2GB’s strong performance is a clear indication Sydney listeners support 2GB’s on air line up, and appreciate quality debate on topical issues and the opportunity to air opinions on day to day news.

“Alan Jones and Ray Hadley have performed outstandingly and we are delighted we have trounced our opposition to continue to dominate in talk in these key programs.

“This excellent result is recognition of all the effort and talent of the people who work here.”
