Results for Newcastle Survey #2 have been released, with Austereo/RG Capital’s KO FM returning as top rating station and stablemate, NX FM, coming in a strong second.
KO FM has moved up one point to 21.7%, while NX FM is up 0.3 to 21%.
The Caralis Supernetwork’s 2HD has dropped 1.6 points to a 17.9%, and NEW FM has moved from 7.4 to 7.8%.
ABC 1233 is steady at 8.5%, while Triple J has jumped from 5.4 to 6.7%.
KO/NX FM Group Program Director, Mike Byrne, says this result corrects an anomalous Survey #1, which saw KO FM wipe off 5% of gradual growth in one hit.
“What took three years to build was erased when 2HD reversed a consistent erosion with a 6% rise.
“This survey, KO FM is back to a clear #1, and NX is up to a clear #2.
“All the hard work from Steve, Kim and the NX Crew is paying dividends. Newcastle’s funniest breakfast show is now its favourite – #1 with 22%.
“Overall, NX FM has scored a record cume of 169 000, a figure never achieved by any Newcastle station.
“Small adjustments made to KO FM’s music and features, as a result of the 2004 Soundcheck, have also paid off. KO FM is up in all shifts, with big rises across the workday and excellent rises in 25-39s and 40-54s.
“Both Austereo brands continue to focus on quality programming, consistent promotions and marketing. We’ve been rewarded with the results.”
