Mary (Moo) Baulch opens up on PodcastOne’s Women with Clout

In the latest episode of PodcastOne’s Women with Clout social commentator Jane Caro and journalist Catherine Fox speak to CEO of Domestic Violence NSW and 2019 Order of Australia Medal recipient, Mary (Moo) Baulch, who opens up about her incredible quest to stop violence against women, how she came to meet her birth mother at the age of 25 and why she’s always had a ‘little bit of attitude’.

Over the weekend, Moo was awarded with a Medal (OAM) of the Order of Australia for her service to community health, a recognition that she puts down to positive and successful collaboration in the fight to end domestic violence.

“It’s an immense honour to be awarded the OAM but I struggle with the concept of an individual award when all of the work that is being recognised has been achieved through collaboration with others,

“I am so lucky to have incredible partnerships with colleagues here in Australia and overseas. The awards system has long been criticised for being white, male and exclusive but as a proud, queer, tattooed, peace activist I know how fortunate and privileged I am to have a voice. I accept the OAM humbly in the hope that it will inspire others to nominate those whose voices and faces don’t usually feature on these lists,” says Moo.
