Minister for Regional Communications to address CBAA Conference

Regional Communications Minister Fiona Nash will address community broadcasters at the CBAA Conference next month.

Minister Nash is looking forward to being part of the largest annual gathering of community broadcasters.

“In my role as Minister for Regional Communications, I’m passionate about ensuring that communities in regional, rural and remote areas receive the investment and services they deserve. This includes supporting the community media services in these areas, which are often the only source of locally produced news, information and stories.

“I look forward to meeting some of the incredible people behind these stations and the broader sector, whose efforts promote the identities of local communities and provide opportunities for people of all walks of life to participate in free-to-air public broadcasting.”

Minister Nash joins a lineup of speakers which includes:

Keynote Address: The Joy & Power of Community Radio with Brian Nankervis

Change is not a dirty word: Holly Ransom

Celebrating 40 years of Community Radio: Michelle Brown (4ZZZ Radio), Maryanne Doyle (National Film and Sound Archive), Juliet Fox (3CR), Dave Houchin (Triple R) and Rachel Kirby (3CR).

Workshop: What is citizen journalism and how does it fit with journalism in community broadcasting? Margaret Simons, Associate Professor / Director, Centre for Advancing Journalism, journalist and freelance author and William Martin from the Citizen Journalism project at 99.9 Bay FM.
