“It was,” says My105fm General Manager, Stephan Kent “A bit of an emotional day for some of the founding fathers and mothers as they turn five years old at noon on the 12th of December.” It was on that date in 2005 that the station first took to the air waves in Mackay – it was only 2 hours but it was the start of something amazing.
My105fm now broadcasts 24/7 live from Mackay – our presenters are volunteers and are really passionate about the station and you the listener.
Mr Kent says, “As an indigenous organsiation we are proud of what we have been able to achieve. 2010 is a mile stone for many reasons – none the least being that “they said we would never make it” but make it we have – in our own way doing what we love.”
Today’s on air team boasts 11 presenters in Mackay and 3 in Proserpine.
Apart from an admin support team, there’s also a recording studio & engineer, a training centre and a video and multimedia production company.
Mr Kent said, “As we head off into our 6th year the finishing touches are being put on the 2011 line up – as we head into the “teens” one thing is for sure – the continued success of MY105FM is assured – thanks largely to our Board of Directors and Volunteers who support the station every day.”
