Tassie network serves up an integration feast for Junior Masterchef

Tasmanian Broadcasters has given their newly formed Network Integration Team a workout by combining their TV and Radio assets to deliver a blockbuster promotion for sponsors Coles and Harvey Norman.

In a special assembly at Burnie’s St. Brigid’s Primary School, young Erica Thomson was crowned Tasmania’s Junior Masterchef. Her prize: a brand new laptop and cooking gear and to her school, a $5000 Coles Shopping Spree.

Network Integration Manager, Jared Henningsen says, Tasmania’s Junior Masterchef has been a fantastic promotion for both the students of Tasmania, and the network’s new Integration departments and StreetStar teams. This was one of the network’s first state-wide, multi-platform campaigns and I’m pleased with the results. A four-week long promotion encompassing hundreds of students, 4 regional finals and a trip south to the state’s capital for the Grand Final, Tasmania’s Junior Masterchef was a programming highlight for Tasmanian Broadcasters in 2010.

Congratulations to 10 year-old Erica, Nick (LAFM), Alex (7HOFM), Henry (107.7 SEAFM) and Jayde (101.7 SEAFM), and Thank you to our valued sponsors and promotion partner: TDT Ten

For the state final, regional Junior Masterchefs (aged between 10-12) were given 1.5 hours to produce two dishes for consideration, using only the essential ingredients and $50 Coles gift cards. The experts called in for the State Final were Jason Dickson (Mercure Hotel, Hobart), Luis Steel (Restaurant Tasman, Hotel Grand Chancellor) and Guilio Cefola (Drysdale PolyTechnic).

Highlights of the Grand Final included Grace’s Strawberry tart, Lauren’s parmesan crusted chicken, Victoria’s chocolate fondant and Erica’s floating island in cardamom cream.
