New Community Radio Licence for Lismore

The ABA has allocated a new community radio licence in Lismore, on the NSW far north coast.

The service will broadcast on 92.9FM and has been awarded to North Coast Radio Incorporated (North Coast).

The station has been broadcasting on this frequency under a temporary community licence which expires on Thursday. The permanent licence will become effective on Friday.

Acting ABA Chair, Giles Tanner, says the new service will “… add to the range and diversity of services in the Lismore area.

“The applicant satisfied the ABA that it would meet the existing and perceived future needs of the community in the licence area.”

The ABA has made the licence available after consultation with the local community to seek their views on what additional broadcasting services were needed.

North Coast was the only applicant for the Lismore licence. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will provide programs to cover a wide range of local issues for the community. The new licensee can be contacted on (02) 6620 3006.
