New imaging and a rebrand for Tamworth’s 88.9FM

Tamworth’s 88.9 has new imaging, launching “Classic Hits and Cool Country” last weekend at a broadcast from the New England Outdoor Adventure Expo.

The new call sign, a change from “we’ve got the music”, is reflective of not just the mix of 70’s to 2000’s played, but also how many Australian and international artists are on the ARIA charts with country songs and albums.

Station CEO George Frame said:

“The recent resurgence of the 2024 Tamworth Country Music Festival with an estimated 100,000 attending the festival in January plus international artists Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Australians James Johnston and Kasey Chambers leading the way with country music, that it’s now cool. The reaction from hour programs “Hottest Australian Country” and Ray McCoy’s “American Country Music Countdown” mixed with classic hits has attracted listeners across Australia and overseas on iHeart Radio and is an indication how country music has matured.”
