The ABA has decided to make extra FM channel capacity available for 4VL Charleville in the areas of Augathella, Morven, Quilpie, Wyandra, Tambo and Mungallala.

It has also varied 4VL’s technical operating conditions to allow it to operate at a slightly higher power during daylight hours to enhance reception.

The ABA will also making FM channel capacity available in Charleville for a new community radio service.

The decisions are contained in its variation to the Charleville radio licence area plan. The populations of the Charleville commercial and community radio licence areas were initially determined using 1996 Census figures. The licence areas have now been redefined using 2001 Census figures.
