News gets an airing

Australian Independent Radio News (AIR News) has just picked up three new subscribers as it continues to compete for the Community, Black-Spot and Section 40 radio business.

Added to the roster this month are Townsville’s Community operator 4TTT, and two section 40 off-band AM Commercial stations, Albany’s 1611AM and COW 1611AM, Margaret River.

AIR News is now delivering, via the internet, to 12 stations across Australia and, whilst that doesn’t sound a particularly large number, AIR’s Arthur Stevens says it caps off a rapid growth from 4 stations in April this year when the service first came on line.

Stevens told radioinfo: “We have moved from 3 bulletins a day to hourly services 7 days a week, with standalone sports reports & international news digest ‘The World’ available on weekdays.”

The service is doubling the available bandwidth in the next week or so which Stevens hopes will give client stations even easier access to the bulletins.
