The 9Network have finally confirmed their Today lineup for 2026 with Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo returning Monday, January 19. Over the summer though, there is a familiar voice part of the hosting lineup with ‘media personality’ Michael “Wippa” Wipfli joining Sam Armytage from mid December, something that may be a sign of bigger things coming for both.
Sam is currently hosting The Golden Bachelor while deflecting rumours that she was replacing Sarah Abo next year. Wippa is part of the Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie breakfast show on Sydney’s Nova 969. This year he was a core part of 36 Months, the group who brought about the ban for Australian children under 16 being able to access social media platforms, which comes into effect on December 10. He was a guest of the Prime Minister in New York, bringing the campaign to a world stage at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
There have been rumours (subscription required) that this is the last year for that show too.
It’s a lot for anyone to do breakfast radio and then jump straight into, when it’s normally their longest period of downtime of the year, breakfast TV. More on this to come, I suspect.
