No Rush to Replace Miller

Southern Cross Broadcasting (SCB) is happy to wait for the right person to replace 2UE General Manager, Bob Miller.

Miller resigned suddenly during the week, after just over 15 months at the helm, to return to his consulting business, Australia Street Marketing.

SCB Group General Manager, Graham Mott, will fill the GM role at UE until a suitable replacement is found. This will mean commuting from his home in Melbourne and juggling his other duties from Sydney.

Mott, who is one of Australia’s most experienced broadcasters, has told The Sun-Herald’s Rachel Browne: “We haven’t put a timeframe (on the search) because that raises expectations.

“I have told the staff I will be here for two to three months while we have a good, thorough search for a new general manager.

“If we find someone before that, all the better, but we are not going to make any rushed decisions.”

When news of Miller’s resignation first broke, one un-named 2UE source told radioinfo: ”Although Miller may have been a wiz in the car biz, he was not a radio person.”

Another told us they were sorry to see him go and that: “there was a mixed reaction amongst staff from sadness through to bewilderment.”
