Back in March this year, the stage was all set for the 32nd annual ACRAs to go ahead in October.
With the awards having been cancelled in 2020, the much-anticipated red carpet event for 2021 was to be the first “live and in-person” ACRAs in two years, and the first time in Sydney’s spectacular new International Convention Centre.
To paraphrase an old saying, ‘People plan and COVID laughs.’
Today, a spokesperson for event organisers, CRA, told radioinfo “Given the unfolding COVID situation and changing public health orders, we are working on a number of options for the 2021 Australian Commercial Radio Awards and will make an announcement about the event soon.
“The ACRAs will be awarded this year but the final form of the event is still under consideration.
“We look forward to announcing the finalists in September. We know radio industry staff have put in a huge effort over the past two years so we want to make sure the hard work and successes are recognised.”
Good luck everyone.
