Nova 106.9 pays tribute to the voice of sport, Ray Warren

Love was in the air between Ray ‘Rabs Warren and Susie O’Neill on the Nova 106.9 Brisbane breakfast show this morning when the team chatted with the iconic sports caller to pay tribute to his legacy on the announcement of his retirement.

Rab’s report card is extraordinary, his iconic voice has been the soundtrack to Australian sport for over 55 years including 99 State of Origin games, 45 NRL Grand Finals and 3 Melbourne Cups.

He also called Susie’s favourite event, her world record-breaking race just before he 2000 Olympics, and they reminisced about that day.

Ray professed his surprise at the interest there has been on him calling it quits, discussed the trauma of getting a tricky name wrong live on air, and the privilege of laying down the soundtrack to some of the best sporting moments in history.
