After three decades on air in Melbourne, Peter Merrett aka Mr Doo Wop, and his show Malt Shop Hop, is coming to an end tomorrow, March 5, on PBS 106.7 FM. Peter started the show at Plenty Valley FM working across both stations with Malt Shop Hop joining PBS in 1999.

As a volunteer Peter also was part of the construction team who oversaw the station’s Easey Street fit-out (they’ve subsequently moved to the Collingwood Arts Precinct) and has also had roles in the PBS Music Library.

Peter’s vast knowledge of other forms of blues and roots music has seen him step in at a pinch to fill other programs when regulars have been away. He will continue to do this.
