A radio station manager and broadcaster has died after being shot in an ambush, becoming the ninth journalist killed this year in the Philippines.

Herson Hinolan was shot in the stomach and arms while in a shop bathroom.

His death could be linked to the controversial issues he tackled frequently on his radio program.
