Queensland radio 4KZ’s Golden Jubilee

Fans and listeners of Queensland radio station, 4KZ, will be celebrating this month with the station marking its 50th year on air.

Located in Innisfail since 1967, Radio 4KZ covers the lush tropical coast of Far North Queensland from Townsville in the south to Cairns city in the north and Karumba to Normanton in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

4KZ broadcasts a crisp signal with state of the art on-air audio processing, low frequency (531 khz) and 10,000 watts from its state of art transmitter, plus 8 translator stations scattered across the north.

It wasn’t always so rosy: in 2006, 4KZ’s two huge transmission towers were destroyed in a cyclone and its headquarters were also badly damaged.

Known as the voice of the North, over 300,000 people live in its coverage area with 55,000 in its primary service area.

The station is hosting a 50th Anniversary Dinner at the Cairns Colonial Club on 30th September. Tickets can be purchased from Carla on 07 40616677

With a strong emphasis on local community, the 4KZ programme line-up appeals to a very broad audience base of loyal listeners. Programmes include:
