After being politely escorted away from their Breakfast radio gig, Kip Wightman and Corey Oates found themselves staring down the barrel of unemployment.

Last month, the axe fell on KIIS 97.3’s Robin & Kip with Corey Oates, with the trio informed they wouldn’t be returning in 2026.

Facing the prospect of no more early shifts, no alarm clocks and no free coffee from the radio station kitchen, the duo did what any self-respecting, newly-jobless media personalities would do.

They started a podcast. And not just any podcast.

The Unofficial Broncos Podcast with Sammy, Oatsey and Kip has been proudly (if questionably) signed by Podshape.

“Look, when the radio station said, ‘We’re making changes,’ we thought that meant new chairs,” said Kip.

“Turns out the ‘changes’ were us leaving. So yeah … podcasting felt like a natural step down.”

Fresh from his own contract uncertainty, Corey wasn’t far behind:

“Kip lost his job, and I thought, why should he suffer alone?,” he jokes.

“Besides, Sammy said he’d shout lunch if I joined, and I’m easily convinced.”

Podshape Co-founder Jay Walkerden (who definitely regrets this already) said “When three grown men show up at your studios holding microphones and looking desperate, you sign them. It’s in the handbook.”

Each week, listeners can expect a chaotic mix of unfiltered Broncos chat, behind-the-scenes stories, questionable analysis and Kip desperately trying to keep Sam and Corey on track

And yes, this podcast is completely unofficial. No club approval. No guidelines. No safety net.

Just three blokes, some microphones and a brand-new reason for other ex footy players to think they can do media.

The Unofficial Broncos Podcast with Sammy, Oatsey and Kip launches in February 2026 before the first trial game on all major platforms.
