Radio to the rescue for missing 89 year old Perth man

An eagle eyed listener to Perth talk station 6PR spotted an elderly man lost on his drive home, thanks to the power of radio.

The family of 89 year old Giuseppe Bolzicco called 6PR to ask for help in tracking down their father/grandfather, who was driving a white Toyota Yaris.

The man went missing on Wednesday morning after leaving his Mounth Hawthorn home to buy items from an Osborne Park hardware store, apparently becoming disorientated and not knowing how to get home. He was spotted 25 kms away in Fremantle.

A listener named Pru phoned the station saying she was following Joe Bolzicco’s car. 6PR phoned police, who tracked down the man, thanks to the location provided by the listener.

The police used the caller’s description to locate the missing man, who had not been seen since the day before.

“He’s driving ok, but I think he realises that someone is following him,” she told 6PR’s Steve and Basil.
