The RadioWest Give Me Five for Kids campaign

A 25 hour on air marathon, a big raffle prize and a shooting competition.

During this month 981 AM RadioWest in Kalgoorlie is fundraising for the Princess Margaret Hospital Goldfields Families Assistance Trust Fund as part of the Give Me Five for Kids campaign. The trust fund mainly helps local families with the cost of travel and out of pocket expenses to Perth for medical treatment at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

As part of the fundraising, the station is planning some special events including a $25,000 raffle prize where listeners are able to purchase tickets for $50 and businesses who purchase a whole book of tickets are able to have RadioWest breakfast announcer Glenn ‘Glenney’ Wilson and fellow RadioWest personality Kendal O’Brien give half an hour of their services. Also, on June 27 and 28, Glenney and Kendal will be participating in a 25 hour long broadcast to help raise further money for the trust fund. Glenney says of the challenge:

“For many parents who unfortunately find themselves having a sick child – 25 hours without sleep is quite a normal occurrence. We are going to take ourselves their comfort zone to raise as much funds as possible for this great cause”.

Other fundraisers include a performance by the Kalgoorlie Metro Cheerleaders at Half time during the Silverlake Resources Goldfields Giants Home Game against the Cockburn Cougars and a corporate clay target shooting day on June 22 to be held at the Eastern Goldfields Clay Target Club West Kalgoorlie.

Give Me Five for Kids is an Australia wide fundraising campaign launched each June by Southern Cross Austereo with the company’s regional radio and TV networks helping to raise much needed funds for the children’s ward at a local hospital.
