Rdio partnership for News Corp

Lachlan Murdoch has brought the successful partnership between Nova and Rdio across to his new job at News Corp.

News Corp has announced a partnership with Rdio that will give its digital subscribers access to Rdio’s music library as part of its +Rewards program.

The deal has been revealed at the same time as announcements about new apps for News Corp’s tabloid newspapers and figures showing that News Corp has over 200,000 digital subscriptions.

Fully paid digital and bundle subscribers to The Daily Telegraph+, Herald Sun+, The Courier-Mail+ and The Advertiser+ will automatically become members of a new benefits program, +Rewards and will receive complimentary gifts and exclusive offers. +Rewards available at launch are:

  • A six month subscription to Rdio music streaming valued at over $75 (available to new Rdio subscribers)
  • Rdio offers on-demand access to over 20 million songs, including the latest releases
  • A 12 month digital magazine subscription from News Life Media, valued at up to $50
  • Members can choose from 11 digital magazines including delicious, donna hay, taste.com.au magazine, Inside Out, Vogue Australia and GQ Australia
  • Discounted movie vouchers from participating independent cinemas

In 2012 Nova Entertainment (then DMG Radio) began its partnership with Rdio. Lachlan Murdoch is chairman of Nova Entertainment and recently re-joined News Corp.
