The Richard Stubbs networked program ended last week. The show replaced Martin & Molloy on MCM network affiliate stations in regional areas. It was dropped because a number of stations, especially those in the DMG network, decided to go back to local programming.
This move sheds a little more light on moves towards DMG’s own networking ambitions for the future. Sources say that DMG plans to build network programs of its own, sourced from DMG stations in Cairns and Albury. This will worry mcm and Sky radio, which both currently supply programs to many regional stations. It is said to be part of the network’s strategy (see Paul Thompson interview below) to improve regional programming and sales.
