Rodents race for V8s

With the Bathurst 1000 only days away Dubbo’s ZooFM decided oddly enough, that the best way to give away tickets was by racing hampsters.

Over five days Sarah from ZooFM’s breakfast show gave away one hampster to five lucky listeners. Then on Friday arvo, the pocket rockets raced in front of a local shopping centre to win their owner a trip to the ‘Great Race’, including a meet and greet with a V8 team and two 4-day VIP passes.

After some initial hesitation huddling in the corner of the race track, “Top Deck” made a dash for the golden apple over the finish line.

Logan from East Dubbo said his Dad and brother could have the prize – he just wanted Top Deck for keeps.

ZooFM Program Director Mitch Smart says “it was a fun and different way to give away a prize that people in Dubbo love. It was easy to tie in with our clients and all week listeners were ringing to ask if it was for real!”
