SCA challenges record companies to a fight

Radio’s ongoing battle with the music industry has taken a new twist with Guy Dobson challenging anyone from the record industry to a boxing match with “Ugly” Phil O’Neil.

No stranger to the ring, O’Neil’s been working out to improve his fitness and boxing skills in order to make a comeback.

“I’m now satisfied with my “guns” and would like them to be put to good use….in the ring,” says Phil.

“This is my challenge – a white collar boxing match with me versus someone from the record industry OR New Zealand radio.”

The match will be 3 x 3 minute rounds of pounding fists of fury.

Phil, currently at Triple M, Brisbane, may not have the boxing skills of a Mohamed Ali but he’s pretty much got the mouth and the taunts down, “Think you have what it takes to ‘deck’ me or batter me around the ring? Think again you nudniks.”

With a venue yet to be decided, Guy Dobson, who shares a keen interest in the pugilistic arts with O’Neil has agreed to act as his manager.

“I’m the new Teddy Atlas!he told radioinfo. But seriously, “It’s a part of profile building – a quirky Southern Cross Austereo idea. We’re going to play this out over the next six months. First we need to find an opponent then it will be built up to be bigger than Quo Vadis.”

Says Phil, “Apply to be my next victim by emailing my boxing manager: [email protected]

“I’ll pick my opponent, the time and the venue.”
