SCA playing cards close to their chests as SAFM has no breakfast hosts

There’s a lot unsaid for Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) as we head toward the end of the radio year.

Two days ago Mark ‘Soda’ Soderstrom announced on air on his SAFM Adelaide breakfast show that he would not continue in 2025 to focus his time and energy on his young family. This morning neither he nor his co-host Rebecca Morse were on air with no explanation, only music. Their website has changed to generic breakfast branding (main picture).

In Perth last Friday October 18 we found out that Xavier Ellis and Katie Lamb would host the 92.9 Triple M Breakfast show from this Monday October 21 2024. Ellis was already on breakfast with co-host Michelle Anderson. Katie is part of Perth’s Triple M Rush Hour team with Andrew Embers Embley, which SCA had announced would wrap up at the end of this year.

So what happened to Michelle?

Michelle was still there on Friday and part of their telethon that day (she’s pictured above holding the microphone). According to LinkedIn she’s still on breakfast with Xav and Bec, on Instagram, on SAFM with Soda.

I feel confident that Michelle is off elsewhere. Perhaps Brisbane? But it’s tough on Adelaide and Perth listeners and fans of both stations to be totally kept in the dark and perhaps not even given a chance to say a goodbye.
