Street FM opens in Melbourne

StreetNation, “a new National Dance culture information Radio Network” expanded its transmission this week and is now on air in Melbourne and the Gold Coast on the Low Power Open Narrowcast frequency, 87.6 FM. The network is broadcasting as ‘Street FM.’

Street FM was launched on the Gold Coast in May last year and has been planning its expansion since then. It began its Melbourne test broadcasts this week and is scheduled to bring stations in Sydney and Perth on line next month, with further expansion after that.

The format for the network will be “based on the successful precedent established by Community aspirants,” such as Hitz, Wild and Street FM, in their recent years of test broadcasting.

The Network will feature “a range of all underground electronica dance and non-commercial rhythmic based genres with live upfront club music formats on weekends and weeknights. Content will also include tourism information for the local areas covered on the FM network along with Tourist information for our international audience.”
