The results of GfK survey 1 in Newcastle show again the dominance of 102.9 Triple M in the city with the station and its breakfast show hosted by Tanya Wilks and Steve Graham (pictured) further extending their lead with SCA sister station Hit 106.9 dropping back by 3% and triple j picking up a considerable amount of their 18-39 audience share.
Triple M was up 1.7 to a 22.8 audience share 10+. Tanya and Steve 0.6 to 24.6. The duo marked 11 years of 4am alarms in April. triple j’s Concetta and Luka saw the biggest growth there with a 2.8 gain to 11.2 with 105.3 NEWFM also up 2.3 to 9.9, with a new breakfast show for Survey 2. The ABC, as was seen in the recent metro surveys too, saw local losses, down to 5.6% overall and to 5.8 on breakfast where they previously had been ahead of NEWFM. 2HD, which was steady overall, now also has a greater talk breakfast audience share.
Cumulative listening increased with triple j and NEWFM the winners for people surfing the dial. The most listened to program was Triple M afternoons, up 3.0 to a 25.2 audience share.
