After Transurban, the operator of Brisbane’s tunnel network, integrated AM and FM stations throughout its tunnels, local youth broadcaster Switch Brisbane 1197AM, discovered it was conspicuously absent from the tunnels’ airwaves.

Switch Brisbane has been around two decades and is available on 1197 AM and on DAB+, nurturing local talent, giving a voice to young people, and keeping the community connected through its programming.

Matthew Boyd, a representative of Switch Brisbane, reached out to Transurban via phone and email without success. He said:

“It is disappointing to see our long-standing service to the community overlooked in this way.”

Switch is calling on Transurban to reconsider its decision and include 1197AM in the tunnel broadcasting system to ensure the station and their listeners can stay connected during commutes.
