TED’s got Adam’s number

ABC702’s Adam Spencer has been selected from an international talent search across 15 countries to speak at the annual 2013 TED Conference, (Technology, Entertainment and Design) in Palm Springs California next week.

The aim of gathering some of the most creative minds in the world is to share “ideas worth spreading.” 44 year old Spencer will join the world’s best science communicators, artists and entertainers, including U2’s Bono, on the global stage next week.

Adam Spencer was a self proclaimed “maths geek” long before he did radio or tv work. “I can’t wait to talk about a number that is so fantastically large just thinking about it will make your ears bleed,” Spencer told radioinfo.

The self confessed geek is no stranger to live performances, Spencer began his career winning the triple j Raw Comedy Championships in 1996, and has continued to wow Australian audiences with his Sleek Geek live performances, radio and TV presenting, hosting triple j breakfast with Wil Anderson and regular appearances on ABC TV’s Quantum, The FAT, Good News Week and The Glass House.

In his spare time he published Adam’s Little Book of Numbers, a look at the mathematics of the numbers 1 to 100.

Between his geek and media engagements, Spencer gets up weekdays at 3.20am and rides his bike to the ABC Ultimo Studio to present the 702 ABC Sydney breakfast program, heard by over 500, 000 listeners.
