Triple M Brisbane help create the Kerr-ier Mail

Last Tuesday Marto from the Triple M Brisbane breakfast team was enamoured with a pull out poster of Sam Kerr in the Courier Mail, telling co-hosts Margaux and Dan:

“The Kerr-ier Mail…Alright I’m going to go with it, The Kerr-ier Mail.”

Marto and his beloved poster from The Courier Mail that prompted his pun and changed the name of the paper.

The editor of the Courier Mail heard the break, with Weekend Editor Anna Caldwell joining Triple M breakfast last Friday morning to make a special announcement:

“For the first time ever (over 177 years) it will be the Saturday Kerr-ier Mail. It looks pretty cool, we’ve been working on it. I think you’ll like it. I reckon you’ve got a second career in newspapers Marto.”

Marto’s co-host Margaux Parker said:

“As a mother of two young female athletes I can’t reinforce just how important it is for their potential future. The only way to continue to grow the game is not just up to the spectators, participants and commentators of the game but everyone in the media to keep talking about it. We must continue to highlight it, spread positivity and create awareness of the game and the players. Sam Kerr is an incredible ambassador for the game and role model for football. The first female player to feature in the FIFA Game and now the first person in history to have ‘The Kerr-ier Mail’ renamed after her in 177 years. This is iconic and will go down in the history books. If you can see it you can be it!”

Dan Anstey agreed and injected as many further puns as he could manage:

“As far as I can recall (re-Kerr-ll) it came up the usual way: during the usual kerr-fuffle of our show someone just blurted (Kerr-ted) it out. What a spectac-Kerr-lar honour. Best thing is Marto hates puns, and I love that he’s reading this right now Kerr-sing my name.”
