Triple M goes Mobile

Further to the official unveiling of the new Austereo web hub, the group has announced the launch of the Triple M branded gig and event guide on 3 mobile.

Austereo CEO, Michael Anderson, says this will expose the vibrant and iconic Triple M brand to a potential subscriber base of more than 450 000 of 3’s customers.

“Aside from using the mobile phone as a voting, polling or competition entry mechanism, our relationship with 3 is another fantastic step towards Austereo’s move into the mobile and wireless environment.

“Our multimedia division is absolutely focused on ensuring Austereo remains at the forefront of innovation in technologies our listeners love and this is only the beginning – we have a few more mobile and wireless initiatives on the tarmac ready to take off.”

Austereo says the Triple M Gig and Event Guide is the best place to keep up with the latest news and information on music gigs and events around the capital cities.

3 customers can check out the rock, pop, and dj guide, music festivals, comedy and other live acts or general events across the country by searching the gig and event guide by artist, venue, date and genre; or by customising the guide to see only the performers, acts, events and venues they are interested in.

Scott Taylor, General Manager, Content and Applications, 3 mobile, says: “The launch of Triple M gig guide on 3 confirms our commitment to provide relevant and accessible music content to our subscribers.”

The Triple M Gig and Event Guide is powered by HWW Limited’s yourGigsTM content and HWW’s purpose built mobile application.

Anderson says: “In an environment where radio is having to compete with a myriad of technological devices that facilitate media consumption, this is an important step to ensure we continue to grow and develop our brands outside of the traditional radio medium.

“With the advent of the digital and mobile age, we cannot ignore the fact the consumption habits of our listeners, as well as the environment where listeners consume media, is changing – we need to recognise this and ensure we are well placed to take advantage of the changing dynamics. Bottom line is that we are going to be where our listeners want us to be.”
