Triple R’s radiothon begins this Friday

Melbourne’s Triple R begin their annual Radiothon this Friday and they are once again asking listeners to put their hand in their pocket and subscribe or re-subscribe to keep the station alive.

Triple R is a not-for-profit community media organisation in Melbourne that runs on the goodwill, hard work, passion and dedication of 800 volunteers and staff, and the generosity of the subscribers, donors and sponsors who fund the station.

Since its inception 43 years ago, the station has been providing an alternative to networked commercial and government media, giving voices to issues of social justice, and many people, causes and opinions that may not otherwise be heard.

People’s annual subscription fees fund the station, and allows them to become members of a genuine and broad station community.
It also enables Triple R to fulfil an independent agenda, free of government and corporate influence.

The theme of this year’s Radiothon is retro arcade games with the slogan Subscribe to Continue’.

The on-air shenanigans, i.e. chats with lots of special guests, run for ten days from Friday 16 August till Sunday 25 August.
