Legendary broadcaster and entertainer Jamie Dunn has died.
He was a Brisbane radio star via his longtime involvement as part of the B105 Morning Crew and even better known as the operator of Agro, with the cheeky puppet given virtually free rein across the 90s on TV shows like Agro’s Cartoon Connection.
Jamie had been in talks with Channel 7 about creating an Agro Up Late special to be released this year.
4BC‘s Gary Hardgrave rang into the Continuous Call Team to break the news:
Jamie joined B105 in 1990 as an original member of the Morning Crew, alongside Donna Lynch and Ian ‘Skip’ Skippen when the station was launched on FM. On the show he originally played the part of Agro but gradually was also heard as himself. For more than a decade the Morning Crew was No 1 for Brisbane breakfast.
Jamie and Agro moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2006 to present the Zinc 96 Morning Zoo alongside Ian Calder and Courtney Burns. Then it was back to Brisbane and 4BC, then Triple M on a Saturday morning. He was also on 2Day FM Sydney breakfast.
Head of Programming for the smooth network Peter Clay shared:
“It’s with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear friend Jamie Dunn, loved husband of Maree and the man behind Agro. He passed this morning in his home in Imbil Queensland, next to the love of his life Maree. I will truly miss him.”
Peter Clay was Jamie’s junior producer at 2Day FM, then went on to manage Agro Enterprises in the halcyon days of Agro’s success.
