Which celeb would you most like to invite to a dinner party?

The Australian Celebrity Report provides some ideas – starting with Hugh Jackman.

The guff says, “It’s bigger, better and more robust than any other study on Australian star power.” It’s also a joint venture of Southern Cross Austereo and Nine Rewards a branch of the Nine Network  – not Ten, which is currently part of the SCA group – but Nine which is rumoured to merge with SCA should it get government approval to do so.

The inaugural report reveals that Hugh Jackman is the celebrity we’d most like to invite around for dinner, the most loved, the most engaging and the most relatable Australian star. After him there’s daylight to Nicole Kidman, Delta Goodrem and Kylie Minogue. Jackman is three times as popular as second placed Kidman, with one in three people around the country listing him as their ideal dinner party guest.

Hugh Jackman said, “Just to be clear…..is this as a guest ? Or the waiter? Hey, as an actor the idea of lots of great food thrills me no end.”

According to the report, Australia also likes to have a laugh while eating dinner, picking Hamish Blake, Adam Hills, Andy Lee and Rebel Wilson as their favourite comedians, and Shane Warne, Eddie McGuire, Mark Webber and Ricky Ponting rounding out the top four sporting stars.

The video of the The Australian Celebrity Report panel is instructive. It includes SCA Content Chief, Craig Bruce and Triple M star Merrick Watts whom failed to make the Dinner party list.

The report has uncovered some interesting and intriguing behaviours around Australia’s perception of our local celebrities – such as Delta Goodrem’s rise to become one of Australia’s most prominent celebrities in the past 12 months. While she divides public perception, she’s now the third most popular celebrity we’d like to have around for dinner.

Kelvin Kirk, General Manager, Nine Rewards Australia & New Zealand said, “As a data provider and facilitator of consumer insights, this partnership with Southern Cross Austereo showcases co-creation at its best. By utilising the talent and expertise of each of our businesses, we have created a report with in- depth information on Australian celebrities that goes beyond popularity ratings.”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban also appear to be Australia’s ‘power couple’, with Urban ranked in eighth place behind his wife for a spot at our dinner table.
