Wilshire celebrates 28 years at 2GB

Brian Wilshire has just notched up 28 years at 2GB, and as Sue Javes reports in the Sydney Morning Herald, he must be doing something right as he consistently outrates every other presenter in the timeslot.

His radio career started in November, 1969 working at stations in places like Tamworth and Canberra before arriving in Sydney.

Since 1979 his radio show has frequently been very high up in the rankings of his time slot. His program averages twice the audience share of the station as a whole, a huge achievement.

Wilshire says that getting the job at 2GB was a case of being in the right place at the right time by ringing 2GB on the off chance there could be a vacancy. As it turned out John Pearce had resigned that day.

Wilshire is slowly catching up with Gary O’Callaghan’s record of being the longest serving presenter in one shift.
