Young SYN 90.7 presenter not going to Channel 9

The Student Youth Network –SYN 90.7 FM Melbourne has announced that Dylan Leach, the 16 year old presenter of its popular Kicking Behinds program will stay at SYN and not move to Channel Nine, despite numerous rumours and innuendos about a possibly vacancy that he might fill.

Leach told radioinfo: “The offer from Nine was very tempting. I was almost going to sign on the dotted line, however loyalty got in the way and I am delighted that I will be staying at SYN in 2006 to host what will be yet another big year of AFL Football”.

“I can’t wait for footy season and I can’t wait for another big year on Kicking Behinds. The one year deal with SYN also gives the opportunity for Channel Seven and Channel Ten to make an offer for my services in 2007.”

SYN has offered Leach a one year contract, or whatever is considered a contract in community radio, to stay on as host of Kicking Behinds. The youth radio station has also given him the opportunity to work on ‘various other projects’ including a guest hosting spot at the Annual SYN Awards.

SYN General Manager Bryce Ives says “Dylan comes from a line of respected broadcasters. He is the jewel in the crown of SYN, which is Melbourne’s premiere youth community radio station. Last year Dylan interviewed Bruce McAvaney, Dermott Brereton, Kevin Bartlett and Eddie McGuire. Dylan has given them all a grilling on his program and is already a highly respected AFL broadcaster.”

Leach is the son of well-known broadcaster Francis.

Kicking Behinds returns on SYN 90.7 FM on Saturday March 18th at 10am.
