Detailed guide to entering the Australian Audio Awards

UPDATE: 2026 Australian Audio Award finalists announced.

A few years ago, when writing an article about awards, our now retired editor Peter Saxon, with his trademark sardonic sense of humour titled it, ‘How to win our Podcast Awards without entering.’

The text of the article simply said: “You can’t,” with a link to the registration page.

The same goes for the new Australian Audio Awards.  Register, login, then begin to upload the requirements.

After reading the Call for Entries document, then what?

Here’s a step by step guide.

Once you’ve read that entry guidelines document, you will still have some unanswered questions, like: how long is the audio, how many words for the entry, what else should I submit?

Each category has slightly different answers to these questions, so you need to LOGIN and choose a category to see the exact requirements. These are the steps:

1. Press ENTER NOW or START YOUR ENTRIES on the main page
2. REGISTER to set up a profile
3. then LOGIN
4. Then hit GET STARTED to choose your category and begin your entry using the dropdown category box
More details of exactly what to submit for that category are available once you have chosen it.

5. Read the category and scoring details again to check you have chosen the category you want
6. Then keep SCROLLING DOWN to see the upload and submission boxes tailored for that category.
7. You can save your incomplete entry as you go and come back to it as often as you like before you finally submit it. So if you miss something, it can be added later.
You only pay once you have hit the confirmation button. If you have a discount code, use it at the checkout step. If you are submitting multiple entries for a company and want to be bulk invoiced manually, rather than paying online, it can be arranged. Contact Kristine Abalos, [email protected] for more details.

This is a whole new way of doing awards in the Australian Audio Industry. I hope you enter into the spirit of it and enjoy the contest between all the sectors, fighting it out for success. No doubt, as judges, we will face headaches and lively discussions as we are making decisions about the finalists and winners. Read more about that in my earlier article here.

Tim Burrowes and I talked more about that in this podcast.

We’ve done our bit to create these new awards for the Australian Audio Industry, now it’s up to you to make them a success by entering your work and being part of the awards event in May.

Good luck!
