First aid is a contentious subject to discuss on the radio. There is more to the subject than can possibly be addressed in a 30 second commercial. Just because we could complete a first aid training course doesn't mean we would become competent in administering it. Without practice, first aid skills tend to be lost. If we don't really know what we're doing, we can cause more harm than good and if we administer first aid when it's not appropriate we can cause further injury, or make the outcome of the incident worse that it otherwise would have been. Many people may be able to demonstrate competence in a training setting but simply wouldnt be able to hold themselves together under pressure. It's always better to understand our limitations and capabilities and act accordingly.
