Seven year hitch for Christian O’Connell and Gold 104.3

Wednesday June 4 marks seven years of The Christian O’Connell Show on Melbourne’s GOLD104.3. Christian moved from the UK where he was the youngest ever inductee into the UK’s Radio Academy Hall of Fame and had won more Radio Academy Awards than any other person. But it was still a gamble for ARN as to whether it would translate here.

Jack Post and Patrina Jones have been with Christian from the beginning with Jack departing May 23. Highlights including their award-winning Win a Billboard campaign, discussions on important topics including mental health and post-natal depression, raising funds for a number of important causes including most recently for Backpacks4VicKids, dinners and shows with the listeners and the daily banter between the team.

To mark the milestone, Christian will be spending tomorrow’s show thanking his listeners with a giveaway from E&S ranging from washing machines to fridges, to 7 lucky listeners. To enter, listeners sent Christian handwritten birthday cards to the Richmond ARN studios.

There is also a double pass to see Oasis’ first show in London up for grabs. The winner will be accompanied by Oasis superfan and ARN receptionist Josh Butler, who was surprised yesterday on-air with travel and accommodation (see above).

 Christian O’Connell said:

It’s big anniversary for us on the show and you [our listeners] as well, because without any of you listening to the show, telling your friends about it, there is no me here and my kids having their life here and now In Australia.”

The Christian O’Connell Show can be heard on GOLD104.3 from 6-9am weekdays, or via the free iHeartRadio app.
