RNZ moves into new Auckland home

RNZ have been welcomed to their new Auckland address, at 100 Victoria Street West, with the move completed on time and budget while still broadcasting around the clock.

Minister for Media and Communications Paul Goldsmith joined RNZ staff, Board members, project partners and special guests at the formal welcome.

RNZ Board Chair Dr Jim Mather said:

“RNZ had outgrown its previous Auckland location on Hobson Street. This investment ensures our people have the facilities, technology and capacity needed to continue delivering independent and trusted public media to New Zealanders.”

The new offices include additional live studios and expanded multimedia production facilities. Auckland will also provide backup master control capability, enhancing RNZ’s ability to remain on air during emergencies or outages.

RNZ Chief Executive Paul Thompson said:

“This building is much more than a new office. It represents RNZ’s ongoing investment in the future of public media and our commitment to serving audiences wherever they are.

“These new facilities give our teams the tools they need to create outstanding public media content for years to come.”
