KOFM is gone forever, replaced by Triple M Newcastle

KOFM disappeared from the dials and screens of Newcastle radio forever this morning to be replaced by Triple M Newcastle.

 
KO has been part of a station call sign in Newcastle since 2KO went to air in the suburb of Kotara on August 1, 1931, becoming KOFM in October, 1992.
 
The move to Triple M Newcastle has been planned for some time to bring the station into line with the rest of the Southern Cross Austereo stable of stations.

Gold Coast Survey 3, and AJ, Bridge & Spida are #1

Gold FM has moved into a solid second place on the Gold Coast, with an audience gain of 2.2 to give them 14.1 in the latest survey, just behind Hot Tomato's 15.3 (down 0.3) and in front of SEA FM's 10.7 (down 0.9).

GOLDFM's biggest gain is in breakfast with AJ Bridge & Spida gaining 3.0 to move into first place on 14.8, and leapfrogging both SEAFM (11.5) and Hot Tomato (14.4).

On the back of breakfast GOLDFM had solid gains across all sessions.

As a result of extensive fundraising efforts across its radio and television networks, Southern Cross Austereo is celebrating a record-breaking year for its annual charity drive, Give Me 5 for Kids, which raised $2,581,548 across Australia in 2017.  

KOFM raises $20,000 with Give me 5 for Kids launch

KOFM has managed to raise $20,000 on the first day of it's annual charity campaign, Give Me 5 for Kids.

This year the station is raising money to help children undergoing treatment at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

Last year $56,000 was raised which helped provide Air / Oxygen Blenders for the neonatal intensive care unit. These devices help ensure that the babies receive the correct amount of oxygen.

Southern Cross Austereo has just released its financial results for the half year to December 2016,

Net profit (NPAT) up 11.8%, to $48.5 million on revenue of $351.8 million.

There were a couple of abnormal items during the second half of 2016, including a new TV program supply deal with Channel 9 and the acquisition of Authentic Entertainment.

The Hit Network’s night time hosts Angus O’Loughlin and Emma Freedman will finish with The Hit 30 this week to take up new opportunities within Southern Cross Austereo.

Angus will return to Adelaide to join hit107’s breakfast show with Cat & Amos, while Emma will remain in Sydney to join The Grill Team on Triple M.

ARN creates new role in Melbourne

Australian Radio Network has appointed Peter Whitehead to the newly created role of Commercial Director - Melbourne.

Peter brings more than 20 years’ experience in media sales to the role. He joins ARN following five years with oOh! Media - the last three years as National Sales Director.
