2CC helps out another local school

2CC’s My School Bonus grant program has today helped Caroline Chisholm School’s Junior Campus. The school is the second recipient of the $1,000 grant and will help develop a sensory garden. A teacher at the school, Mrs Browning nominated the project for funding with the following entry.

2CC’s General Manager Michael Jones, Program Director Peter Davidson, and breakfast host, Mark Parton presented the cheque to Principal Wendy Wurfel in front of the very excited students at a special school assembly.

Wendy explained that 2CC’s contribution to the school will not only help them realize a special dream for their school but also allows their students to witness firsthand the value of good citizenship and the power of giving.

The school has also thanked 2CC saying: “Caroline Chisholm School is an inclusive learning community. We currently have two Learning Support Units and students with a range of educational and social needs (for example -a student in Kinder who is legally blind, a student who is recovering from leukemia, 2 of the youngest children in Australia diagnosed with childhood Lupus amongst a range of various disabilities). We have raised a small amount ourselves but $1000 would support us in creating a ‘sensory garden’ for students in our school community to access during class time and break times. We have made a plan which will allow students to experience a variety of different textures (e.g. stones, pavers, gravel, bark, grasses) smells (e.g. lavender, herbs) and a quiet space to retreat during busy lunch periods. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated by our students and the wider school community. Thank-you for this opportunity.”
