2XX FM welcomes new show ‘Nocturna’ to Wednesday

2XX FM are welcoming a brand new program to replace long running and recently retired Wednesday night show  S.I.N.G.E.D.

Following along a similar genre of music to the much loved S.I.N.G.E.D, (Synth-pop, Industrial, Noise, Gothic, Electronica, Darkwave), Nocturna will begin broadcasting on Wednesday the 16th of September and will attempt to follow somewhat in S.I.N.G.E.D’s fifteen-year-long footsteps.

Focusing on more world-wide talent than its predecessor’s mostly home-grown and Canberra based music, Nocturna will play tracks by experimental drone and ambient artists such as Vangelis (Greece) and Lustmord (Wales).

Nocturna’s namesake is a song composed by 63 year old American experimental musician Richard Bone.

‘Nocturna’ is a song from Bone’s 1998 album ‘Spectral Ships’, number nine of thirty-nine solo albums released since his debut on Quirkworks Laboratory Discs in 1993. Bone’s work is really an embodiment of what host Kevan Townsend aims to play on the program.
