A Teddy Swims special marks 300 Nova’s Red Rooms

I was already a fan of Teddy Swims before Sunday July 14’s Nova’s Red Room notched up a 300th edition of the network’s live music events. But before you read further, it’s not my bra – I promise.

Nova 100‘s Jason and Lauren returned from their mid season break to host the event at the Northcote Theatre in Melbourne, Lauren glowing from a Greek vacation plus the ratings success for the station and their breakfast show in GfK Radio 360 Survey 4. Also present were Jase and Lauren’s Nova 100 workdays colleague Mel Tracina, Nova 96.9‘s Adam Price and Ash Gardner, NOVA’s Program Director of Network Shows Sarah McGilvray and Head of Music Scott Baker-Smith. Collingwood’s Mason Cox also attended but this time stood at the back of the room.

I wasn’t so reticent, pretty much pressing my nose up against the stage.

Swims had done a sold out performance the night before at Margaret Court Arena and was hours away from doing it again for a second night. And yet he gave all to the stripped back, exclusive Nova’s Red Room show, with nine songs. including Use Somebody by Kings of Leon which went viral for Teddy after he did it as part of Nova’s Red Room Content Series a couple of years ago.

As he wrapped up the show singing The Door, and with lots of banter back and forth with the 500 attendees, some (other) fan in the front row threw her bra on stage, which Teddy first donned and then wrapped around his mic stand (pictured above).

The Nova team are doing it all again tomorrow night July 16 when Michael Marcagi takes the Red Room stage at Luli Tavern in Melbourne, with Mel Tracina hosting this time. You might still be able to be one of the lucky 200 attendees by listening to Ben, Liam & Belle, via Nova 100 throughout the workday or via The Nova Player.
